Will Bioheat work with my current home heating system
One question we get a lot here at Ehrhart Energy is “how do I reduce impact my impact on the environment.” It’s kind of our specialty.
The truth is, there are a number of ways to answer that question. Some of them involve big steps such as installing a high-efficiency pellet boiler. Others involve small changes that can make a big difference to your carbon bottom line.
One change we made as a company a few years ago was to switch all our heating oil to Bioheat– a greener alternative to traditional home heating oil. Bioheat is made by mixing heating oil with biodiesel – a renewable energy resource made in America from fatty acids found in soy, corn and other vegetable oils, animal fats, recycled restaurant oils and other natural sources.
One of the best things about Bioheat is that it will work with your current oil-fired home heating system without modification – just schedule your heating oil delivery and you’ll enjoy the emissions-lowering benefits of Bioheat right away.
But a better emissions profile isn’t the only benefit of using Bioheat. Since Bioheat burns cleaner than regular heating oil, it causes less wear and tear on your equipment, which means your heating system will last longer. Longer lasting equipment saves you money and keeps more furnaces and boilers out of the landfill. And because Bioheat is produced domestically, you’ll reduce demand for foreign oil every time you fill your tank.
Best of all, the cost of Bioheat is similar to conventional #2 heating oil – and thanks to a NY State Tax Credit for Bioheat of up to 20 cents per gallon, it could cost even less. To learn more about this potential savings, or to learn if Bioheat might be right for you, give us a call today.
