Our History Began When Gerry Ehrhart Started Ehrhart Propane Gas in New York, in 1949.

At that time in our history, the business was quite small, and Gerry worked with a few employees. The delivery method, was to bring cylinders to the customers’ homes, and swap out empty tanks with newer ones. It was quite a lot of work. In the 1960s, the entire industry began to switch to the method used today. They used bulk delivery trucks, commonly called bobtails. They carried several thousand gallons of propane, delivered gas on a monthly basis to customers with large storage tanks.

In 2019 Ehrhart was purchased by EDP. Today, we serve propane and light oils to customers in and around Trumansburg, New York. We also have a satellite operation in Ithaca that serves nearly 7,000 customers in eight New York counties. At this point in our history, because of the push for more sustainable energy, we offer many solutions. Propane, Bioheat, wood pellets, and Autogas are all great and cost-effective ways of providing energy. Our products also reduce the amount of greenhouse gas and toxic emissions put out by fossil fuels.
