President Trump Signs Resolution Supporting Energy Choice
A major legislative victory has reaffirmed the importance of energy choice in the transportation sector—especially for those who rely on clean, scalable fuels like propane.
Earlier today, President Donald Trump signed three congressional resolutions that reverse the Biden Administration’s Advanced Clean Trucks and Low-NOx Omnibus waivers. These waivers had mandated electric vehicle (EV) targets for medium- and heavy-duty trucks in several states, directly impacting the use of propane-powered fleets, including bobtails and Autogas vehicles.
The National Propane Gas Association (NPGA), in collaboration with regional and state propane associations, played a key role in advocating for this outcome. NPGA President & CEO Stephen Kaminski was invited to the White House to attend the ceremonial signing, underscoring the significance of this action for the propane industry.
“The propane industry applauds President Trump for ensuring energy choice in the transportation sector,” said Kaminski. “Choice—not mandates—ensures that clean, resilient, scalable energy sources like propane Autogas can continue to reduce emissions in transportation, particularly in school buses, delivery fleets, and rural transit systems.”
This action also protects the safe transport of hazardous materials, as EV regulations have yet to provide clear guidelines for safely equipping electric vehicles with hazardous materials tanks.
Propane Autogas continues to offer a reliable, lower-emission solution for transportation—especially in areas where electric infrastructure is not feasible. Legislative actions like this help preserve the flexibility and affordability that energy users deserve.
